Professional Eye Examinations Eye examinations are certainly more than finding a correct eye glass prescription. Identifying and treating ocular disease in a timely manner is the most important component of an eye examination.


Digital Imaging Instrumentation Our office recently purchased an anterior segment (cornea and iris) digital imaging computerized camera. This allows us to "photograph" diseases of the cornea, cataracts, and problems with contact lenses for documentation and monitoring. These images can be stored in our computer, printed on photographic paper or e-mail to specialists around the world for consultation. We also now have a state of the art RETINAL IMAGING CAMERA SYSTEM, which allows us to photograph and study your retina for eye diseases such as diabetes and glaucoma among others. Your retina can be e-mailed for consultations with specialists around the Capital District area or around the world.


Corneal Topography Our office is equipped with the latest in corneal topography instrumentation. This allows us to "map" the surface of the cornea to aid in fitting contact lenses as well as to diagnose serious corneal conditions such as Keratoconus.


On Site Optical Lab Our in-office laboratory allows us to get your glasses to you as qucikly and accurately as possible. As we carry many lenses in stock, if we have your lenses we can have them ready for you in 1 hour. Bill, Michele and Nicole have a combined experience of over 40 years in the optical industry. Ask them about the latest technology in lenses, including the newest technology in computer lenses!


Low Vision Assessment Dr. Morier is the Consultant to the New York State Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped. He is the Chair of the Low Vision Committee of the New York State Optometric Association. Dr. Morier coordinates the largest low vision conference for specialists in the Northeast United States.


Wink Computer Camera Wink is a specialized computer / camera combination that Consumer Optical utilizes to assist our customers in selecting the most becoming frames possible. If you wear corrective lenses but cannot see well without them, then how can you see if new frames are becoming to you? Well, with Wink, you can try on multiple frames and then use your current glasses to view your photos!


Treatment of Eye Diseases Our office is able to treat most eye diseases such as conjunctivitis (pink eye), itchy allergy eyes, glaucoma, keratoconus, corneal abrasions and other emergencies. We have 4 doctors and 24 hr. coverage.


Laser Vision Correction We can provide you with all the honest and latest information on refractive surgery. Dr. Morier is on the Medical Advisory Committee of the TLC Laser Center. We work closely with Drs. Michael Belin and Rob Schultze in providing the most experienced team of refractive surgeons in the Capital region.


GDx Nerve Fiber Analyer The GDx nerve fiber analyzer allows early detection of glaucoma allowing us to start treating you before serious damage occurs. We are also able to discontinue treatment of those people on therapy who don't need to be. Glaucoma is a very difficult condition to diagnose and this instrument in the state of the art. The test takes a couple of minutes with no dilation or contact with the eye. The patient only has to look at a target for 4 seconds total. That's it!! We are proud to offer this service to our patients as well as the patients of of colleagues in the area.
